You Wear It Well, Cloverdale Community Kitchen, and Nightshift Street Ministries all benefit from Pivot's donors
Pivot Theatre has been the benefactor of a number of generous donors in the last two years. Many of these items have been sold at our fundraising yard sales, but our donations team found some items that were better suited to other organizations in Surrey. So Pivot's Chair, Margaret Shearman, ventured out into the community to make some deliveries.
First was You Wear It Well, an organization that provides students with grad outfits at no cost. Started in 2009, You Wear It Well is a volunteer-run registered charity that assists graduating students in Surrey, New Westminster, and Delta. Their services help motivate at-risk youth to stay in school as they know they will have something to wear to their graduation ceremony. You can read more about You Wear It Well here.
The second donation Pivot Theatre made was to Cloverdale Community Kitchen. This award-winning organization was founded in 2011 to provide meals to homeless people in the Surrey area, and expanded into a full commercial kitchen in 2013. Cloverdale Community Kitchen also includes a number of other services, including an emergency weather shelter and a Christmas hamper program. Pivot's donation included a large number of women and kids' clothes items. Read more about them here.
Finally, Pivot donated a large selection of clothing and backpacks to Nightshift Street Ministries. Since MaryAnne Connor (“Mac”) first opened an overnight shelter in 2004, Nightshift provides outreach, care, and recovery programs for people struggling with poverty, addictions, mental illness and homelessness. You can read about them here.
